Why would anyone vote for Republicans in 2014?

Why would anyone in their right mind vote for a Republican? Anyone whose been paying attention? Anyone who has witnessed the truth of what's been happening?

They have been shooting themselves in the foot, since they took us into the worst recession since the great depression, in '07-'08.

1- The "GOP" led us into a "crashed" economy and the Democratic President has led us out of it.

2- GOP announced that their only focus is to "bring down the president," and has spent the last 5 years trying to do so.

3- GOP , while doing this evil, treasonous plan-- refused to work with the president and Dems in congress, on a daily basis-- causing daily obstruction, gridlock and negating all positive laws/votes -- that would have benefitted the American people-- and America and it's economic recovery.

4- GOP LIED on a regular basis-- screwing congress, the American people, and then blaming the president for everything, in their daily "misinformation campaign" to manipulate hapless, uninformed Americans-- And they're STILL doing it.

5- GOP caused the U.S. to lose our AAA rating and standing in the world, with it's congressional "misfit" behavior-- of an unprecedented amount of fillabusters, debt ceiling obstruction and language, threatening to shut government down-- that made our creditors, other countries, and the markets nervous, in 2011. This was, and IS "un- American."

6- GOP single-handedly, and doggedly-- have worked AGAINST, and DAMAGED America's reputation and the American people-- all for self-serving and treasonous reasons, intentionally-- to defeat a president who has been elected twice, by the American people-- and they did it repeatedly-- at the people and America's expense.

7- GOP obstructed JOBS bills for the American people-- REPEATEDLY.

8- GOP voted AGAINST bills that would have helped grow and strengthen our economic recovery, faster than it did.

9- GOP has NOT done their jobs-- have worse than the other party's record-- yet still got/get paid...

10- GOP blocked and overturned bills supporting our troops/vets, and then lied about it.

11- GOP has now "shut the government down", caused hardship and loss, and have threatened American lives, health, jobs and incomes-- all to "dictate" and childishly get their way on banishing a bill that has already been passed into law .

12- GOP threatens to ruin our country and world financial standing-- again-- by threatening the debt ceiling, AGAIN-- and recklessly crash our economy into another recession/depression, by holding our government hostage and hurting Americans-- in order to get their way,

13- GOP has been working hard to "gerimander" rezone districts, trick and manipulate and suppress the voting process, for the next elections in 2014 and 2016-- CHEATING to gain power. This must be stopped.

14- GOP moderates and "sane" republican conservatives-- have let their party be hi-jacked by a few "right wing nuts"-- and therefore, are as irresponsible and as GUILTY as they are-- until, and unless they come forward and fight back.

This means the "new" GOP:

1- can't be trusted to lead-- even within it's own party

2- can't or won't, protect the average American's welfare and interests-- and the Democratic and voting process

3- can't be relied on to be truthful and forthright, and be "adults" working with the elected party in power.

4- can't or won't, promote and protect the country's reputation and standing in the world--- and in short--

5- GOP are self-serving cowards-- sacrificing America, and their whole party, for a few right wing extremists.

Millions of people now have access to Affordable Health Care

America is catching up with the rest of the world.

The Affordable Health Care is already an amazing success!

Thank you, President Obama!

Republicans are willing to shut down the government to deny people affordable health care

Republicans are extremists.  They are not rational and they do not care about people.  Everyone knows this especially now as they threaten to shut down the government to deny people affordable health care.

The people voted for President Obama and the Affordable Health Care Act in 2008 and in 2012.   Millions of people want and need basic health care and that why they support President Obama and not Republicans or the Koch Brothers or Rush Limbaugh.

We can no longer afford to allow Republican extremists to deny people their basic rights such as the right to vote or to have access to health care.  Enough is enough.

Once this current crisis is over and when the Affordable Health Care Act is in place, we need to find ways to rid our society of Republicans, the Tea Party and other extremists who wish to deny Progress.

We have Hate Crime laws against hate-based violence.  Surely a form of that can be extended to radical Conservatism.   For example, it is illegal and wrong to smoke while in a car with a child.   The same is true with someone who listens to Rush Limbaugh and allows a child or any other person to hear hate radio.   We can start there.

We can outlaw the NRA and the Tea Party  We can defund the Republican Party.

Working together and standing firm with President Obama, we can and will transform America into a progressive place of rational thought and social and economic justice.

More gun violence thanks to the Tea Party and the NRA

More gun violence today thanks to the Tea Party extremists and NRA who will do anything to stop President Obama and Progress.

Thank you, President Obama for listening and for working with others to avoid war.

Peace, NOT war.

Justice for Trayvon: Ban Guns Now

Together we can ban guns

Like so many other people I have been very upset and sad about the terrible miscarriage of "justice" that place over the week.   It is especially frustrating that something like this can happen even with President Obama in the White House.   I feel bad for President Obama because I know he cares and I know he wanted justice for Trayvon.

Everyone knows that Trayvon Martin was murdered.  An innocent child with only candy in his hand and he shot because he was a child of color.  I feel like I lost a child.  So does the President.  So do we all.  We just can't allow this to happen again.

What better way to save the Trayvons of our society by banning guns?   If not for a gun, Trayvon would be with us today.

So let's work together to make America a GUN FREE ZONE.   I mean every gun.  There simply is no legitimate reason to have a gun.  The sole purpose of a gun is create violence and to murder people.

Instead of "gun rights" we need Trayvon Zones where people of all colors can be free from danger and be able to walk around without the fear of being stalked and shot.   We need a society that is free from gun violence.  Where people of all colors and all sexuality are safe from hate.

I feel emotional about this but I am so encourage and proud of all the millions of people who have gathered and protested in defense of Trayvon.  Together we can do this.  We can ban guns.

Please contact the White House  and everyone you know about this.  Spread the word.  Let's do this for Trayvon.

Tolerance, Diversity and Gay Rights

Gay Marriage is a Human Right and Gay Marriage IS the definition of marriage.

This pretty much kills the IRS "scandal"

Cons, how many times are you people going to cry wolf?

This pretty much kills the IRS scandal

The scandal has been a fiction all along as new documents show the IRS targeted liberal groups as well

BY Alex Seitz-Wald

Remember the IRS scandal? How the tax agency improperly singled out Tea Party groups for extra scrutiny in a nefarious political vendetta against conservatives because the agency is either inherently liberal or was acting on orders from the Democratic President? Remember how it cost even Mitt Romney the election?

Well, as it turns out, that whole scandal is entirely bogus. False. A fiction. The entire notion that the agency singled out groups with “Tea Party” in their name in simply wrong, we learn today, thanks to new documents revealed by the Associated Press. The documents, and confirmation from officials, show the IRS targeted groups with other keywords in their names, including “Progressive” and “Occupy.”

“There was a wide-ranging set of categories and cases that spanned a broad spectrum” on the lists, newly appointed IRS Commissioner Danny Werfel said on a conference call with reporters.
So the IRS was targeting Tea Party groups, but it was also targeting progressive groups, which means it wasn’t really singling out anyone. And remember the only group actually denied tax-exempt status was a progressive one.

This should put this matter to bed forever. All along, everyone agreed that the problem with the IRS’ behavior was that the agency seemed to be giving extra scrutiny to groups of one political affiliation, and not the other. Now we know that it targeted groups on both sides.

The IRS still considers some of the criteria “inappropriate,” but this seems to deescalate the controversy to an wonky internal agency matter, rather than a national political scandal. /

Issa furious after Democrat releases transcripts proving no scandal

When the facts contradict the lie... hide them: -targeting-2013-6

Rep. Elijah Cummings, the Democratic ranking member on the House Oversight Committee, released more than 200 pages of interview transcripts Tuesday afternoon after the committee's Chairman, Rep. Darrell Issa (R-Calif.), refused to do so.

Cummings is seeking to dispel any notion that targeting of Tea Party groups by the Internal Revenue Service was ordered from Washington.

Cummings released transcripts with an IRS screening group manager described as a "conservative Republican," who said that the targeting of the Tea Party groups applying for tax-exempt status started with low-level workers in Cincinnati. The witness also said that there was no communication on the targeting with any senior IRS officials or with anyone in Washington or the Obama administration.

The release of the transcripts came after two weeks of back-and-forth squabbling between Cummings and Oversight Committee Chair Darrell Issa (R-Calif.), who Cummings accused of selectively releasing portions of the transcripts.

Issa immediately decried the release of the transcripts, saying he was "deeply disappointed" at Cummings' decision. He said their release would encourage IRS officials to "navigate investigative interviews" with Congress.

And... now moving on to the next manufactured conservative scandal against Obama.

Terms like "Superman" reinforce gender imperialist stereotypes

The new American film, "Man of Steel" has been released and though I have not given it much initial thought I am concerned about its gender emphasis.

What does the term "Superman" mean? What is the intent?

It would be easy to superficially assume that being a "man" is superior to people who are not classified as male or to those without gender.  This automatically puts a film such as "Man of Steel" in conflict with a increasingly progressive society that rejects outdated gender-roles and the very notion of gender.   We are an increasingly Bi, Gay and Transgender world.   We would feel a greater connection with a "SuperPerson".

From what I have seen, "Man of Steel" has received tepid reviews and hopefully the film will not do well at the box-office.   The concept of Superman is outdated does not have a place in society that strives for diversity and rejects war and nationalism.

What cons are (deliberately?) ignoring in the IRS "scandal"

So cons have tried to portray the IRS scandal as a case of Obama, or someone in his administration, using the IRS to go after political opponents. They've accused the IRS of trying to "stifle free speech."

There's some factual problems with that narrative since there's no evidence that this was directed from above and none of the groups investigated had their application turned down (although some withdrew said application).

But there's a larger meta problem of logic with this narrative as well. Namely that no ones speech was "stifled". What we're talking about are groups which applied for 501(c)4 status which allows them to raise money tax free from undisclosed donors. You don't NEED 501(c)4 status to organize a group and play politics. You'll just have to disclose your donors and pay appropriate taxes. So what these Tea Bagger groups were doing wasn't applying to be able to engage in politics but rather applying to be tax exempt and not have to disclose donors.

Now here's the real kicker. You don't actually NEED pre-approval from the IRS to set up a 501(c)4 organization. You can just claim that status and run your group as one and it will only be adjudicated by the IRS if some issue comes up. So none of these Tea Bagger groups had to apply to the IRS or get their approval to run a 501(c)4. BUT, if they started running as a 501(c)4 and then later it was determined that they weren't they'd have to disclose their donor lists. So the ONLY reason these groups would be seeking pre-approval would be because they wanted to assure donors that their donations would remain anonymous. In other words they wanted to raise unlimited amounts of dark money to influence the election. This doesn't really jibe with the conservative narrative of these poor groups being stifled from expressing their opinions.

FACT: Not one of those Conservative groups claiming persecution are following the law

501(c)(4) - An organization is operated exclusively for the promotion of social welfare if it is primarily engaged in promoting the common good and general welfare of the people of the community.

Not a single one, not one of those conservative groups claiming persecution are following the law. Not a single one even qualify.

Is anyone under the illusion Karl Rove's Crossroads GPS exclusively promotes general welfare?

The IRS is lax, and isn't even enforcing the law. And yet they're under fire for even questioning organizations they're just allowing to slide through. The President apologized, someone was fired, and the law isn't even being followed to begin with.

You cannot make this stuff up.

Daryl Issa needs to be impeached

For months now, Issa has been suggesting that President Obama should be impeached for misleading the American public on Benghazi. Well we now know that the White House didn't doctor any reports, but rather relied on the CIA analysis.

But what we also know is that a Republican staffer on Issa's team purposefully doctored emails which they then leaked to the news so as to make the White House look guilty. IMO Daryl Issa needs to resign over this.

Scandals? What scandals? Obama not hurt by GOP fabricated scandals

Another defeat/epic fail for Republicans according to the latest CNN/ORC international poll.

President Obama's approval rating went UP to 53% from 45%. What scandals? In your little heads? Take that, we won again. Keep trying, Republicans!

Overkill in Boston

Military-style tactics by police in Boston created a climate of fear and failed to solved the problem.

We do not know if the Tsarnaev brothers are guilty of anything and there are still plenty of leads to explore including the likelihood this was a act committed by anti-government extremists of the right. By using force and having military-style police marching around with guns only made things worse. People got scared and ran off.

The best thing to do would have been discrete and allow a chance for the facts to come out.

Right Wing Terror in Boston

This week we saw the hate of the right wing express itself in the form of bombings in Boston. There is no question anymore that there is no valid reason to vote for any Republican, any Conservative or any person associated with the Tea Party.

To me, this act of violence in Boston by Conservatives reveals how desperate they truly are. Conservatives are on the wrong side of every issue from Climate Change to Gay Marriage.  From the Economy to Foreign Policy.

Conservatives lost in November when President Obama was overwhelmingly voted in for a second term. It is no coincidence that the person who opposed President Obama in 2012 was a former governor of Massachusetts. Don't be surprise that when the bomber is captured it turns out to be a Romney supporter.

Boston and Boston Marathon represents much of what Conservatives hate:  A progresssive city that is gay-friendly, that bans gun violence, a city rich in schools, culture and some of the best hospitals in the country.   By attacking the Marathon, Conservatives also reveal their contempt for healthy lifestyle's and modes of transportation that does not involve gas-guzzling cars and SUV's.

What do we do now?

First, we must continue to move FORWARD with President Obama.  Conservatives oppose everything that people want.  People want PROGRESS.   We want Gay Marriage.  We want Health Care.  We want the rich to pay their FAIR SHARE in taxes.   We want SCIENCE in our classrooms and we want respect for DIVERSITY and TOLERANCE.

These are the values that we make us a better people and will transform America into a good place we can call home and feel safe.

Are there any legitimate arguments against Gay Marriage?

By legitimate I mean those that can stand up to rational scrutiny. I've yet to hear one that is convincing whatsoever though I'm fully open to being proven wrong. Anyone have one?

Stopping Gun Violence: We're Just Getting Started

Starting in 2009, President Obama undertook a tremendous challenge:  Transforming America from a dysfunctional society into one that is progressive and provides for the basic needs of people while establishing both economic and social justice.

Today, he took us on another step of progress in that direction.

For too long, free-thinking and decent people living in America have been attacked, bullied and killed by the gun-zealots, groups like the NRA and the Republican Party.  During the 1980s, Republicans flooded Central America with guns started conflict there.  They also armed and trained the Taliban in Afghanistan.   During the Bush Error, wars were started in Afghanistan and Iraq, over a million people killed or tortured.

But President Obama has ended all that.

The torture has stopped.  The wars are ending.  Discrimination in America is going away.  Gay Marriage is becoming accepted and legal.    People now have access to health care and today we took a major step in ending gun violence.

Thank you, President.   There's more to be done and we'll be with you every step of the way.

An America without guns means a better world for all

Thank you, President Obama!
